Drug induced ovulation

Some patients suffer from chronic anovulation, or in some cases the ovarian reserve is reduced due to the age of the patient. In these situations we turn to drug-induced ovulation using one of the ovarian stimulation prepared substances. In our center we especially use Gonadotropines (Gonal-F, Puregon, Bravelle) - the most efficient stimulation drugs which have minimum side effects. We have obtained very good results using Gonadotropines which are proved by the favorable statistics and successful pregnancies.

The disadvantage of these prepared substances is the justified, but high price. Cheaper prepared substances, but with an antiestrogenic effect are clostilbegyt and ova-mit.

Minimum doses of prepared substance are used and if there is no ovarian response, daily doses can be increased.

The treatment begins in the first day of the menstrual cycle and a verification ultrasound is necessary to be performed before the drugs are administered.

Endovaginal ultrasounds are being performed in order to monitor the response to the treatment. At the right moment, decided by your medic, HCG will be administered to you thus triggering the ovulation after about 34-38 hours. Our recommendation in situations like these is to finalize the stimulation with an intrauterine insemination with prepared sperm from your partner, which evidently increases the couple?s chances of obtaining a pregnancy.

In some cases, ovarian stimulation produces more than one follicle and in this case the couple is being informed about the theoretical possibility of obtaining a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc). We inform the couple regarding the percentage of cases in which multiple pregnancies occur and also regarding the complications that can appear subsequently the evolution of pregnancy. The final decision belongs to our patients.
